Welcome!

Welcome!! My name is Paul Lappen. I am in my early 60s, single, and live in Connecticut USA. This blog will consist of book reviews, written by me, on a wide variety of subjects. I specialize, as much as possible, in small press and self-published books, to give them whatever tiny bit of publicity help that I can. Other than that, I am willing to review nearly any genre, except poetry, romance, elementary-school children's books and (really bloody) horror.

I have another 800 reviews at my archive blog: http://www.deadtreesreviewarchive.blogspot.com (please visit).

I post my reviews to:

booklore.co.uk
midwestbookreview.com
Amazon and B&N (of course)
Librarything.com
Goodreads.com
Books-a-million.com
Reviewcentre.com
Pinterest.com
and on Twitter

I am always looking for more places to post my reviews.

Graduated . . . But are You Ready to Succeed?

Graduated . . . But are You Ready to Succeed?, Ram V Iyer, 2025

You have just graduated from a top university and you have a high IQ. There should be a feeding frenzy of companies wanting to hire you, right? Wrong. In the workplace. the "rules" are totally different.

While intelligence and credentials are certainly important, what is much more important is being able to use your abilities to achieve results that the world values. The author of this book calls it Smartness.

There is an available assessment, to show where you are doing well, and where you need to work on yourself a little more. This book tells the story of Emma and Jack, two recent college grads dealing with confusion and self-doubt in the workplace. Do they eventually "get it?"

This book is very easy to read and understand. It is a gem of a book that is very much worth reading for all recent college graduates.
