Welcome!

Welcome!! My name is Paul Lappen. I am in my early 60s, single, and live in Connecticut USA. This blog will consist of book reviews, written by me, on a wide variety of subjects. I specialize, as much as possible, in small press and self-published books, to give them whatever tiny bit of publicity help that I can. Other than that, I am willing to review nearly any genre, except poetry, romance, elementary-school children's books and (really bloody) horror.

I have another 800 reviews at my archive blog: http://www.deadtreesreviewarchive.blogspot.com (please visit).

I post my reviews to:

booklore.co.uk
midwestbookreview.com
Amazon and B&N (of course)
Librarything.com
Goodreads.com
Books-a-million.com
Reviewcentre.com
Pinterest.com
and on Twitter

I am always looking for more places to post my reviews.

The eSmith Short Tales

The eSmith Short Tales: Fables and Stories from Fairytale Land, GranRan, NuSaga Press, 2020

The collection of fairy tales is about the family of a fox named eSmith. They are based on Aesop's Fables. The reader will experience eSmith's first trip to the beach, along with his first encounter with a buffalo, a boar and a lion. His father is disfigured, having lost his tail in an "accident." His mother is brash, and has red fur. She tries desperately to save him from becoming lunch for a group of hungry eagles. Color illustrations certainly help.

Here is a really good group of stories for older children. It may not be good for young children, because, like Aesop's Fables, not all of the stories end with "happily ever after." It is still a good book to read to a child, or for a child to read back.
