Welcome!

Welcome!! My name is Paul Lappen. I am in my early 60s, single, and live in Connecticut USA. This blog will consist of book reviews, written by me, on a wide variety of subjects. I specialize, as much as possible, in small press and self-published books, to give them whatever tiny bit of publicity help that I can. Other than that, I am willing to review nearly any genre, except poetry, romance, elementary-school children's books and (really bloody) horror.

I have another 800 reviews at my archive blog: http://www.deadtreesreviewarchive.blogspot.com (please visit).

I post my reviews to:

booklore.co.uk
midwestbookreview.com
Amazon and B&N (of course)
Librarything.com
Goodreads.com
Books-a-million.com
Reviewcentre.com
Pinterest.com
and on Twitter

I am always looking for more places to post my reviews.

Incredible Stories for Inquisitive Kids

Incredible Stories for Inquisitive Kids, Fred Flynn, 2024

This book presents short tales of adventure and exploration for readers of all ages.

Alexander Selkirk, who spent several years alone on a deserted island, was the real-life inspiration for the story of Robinson Crusoe. Another story is about the birth of the chocolate chip cookie. Thomas Edison gets the credit, or blame, for the world's first cat video. A woman named Violet Jessup survived three major shipwrecks, one of which was the Titanic. Bessie Coleman was the first African-American airplane pilot. Have you ever heard of the laughing epidemic of 1962, or Boston's molasses flood of 1919?

This is an excellent book for young people and their parents. It does a very good job of teaching and entertaining at the same time. Here is a collection of tales that is very much worth the time and money.
