Welcome!

Welcome!! My name is Paul Lappen. I am in my early 60s, single, and live in Connecticut USA. This blog will consist of book reviews, written by me, on a wide variety of subjects. I specialize, as much as possible, in small press and self-published books, to give them whatever tiny bit of publicity help that I can. Other than that, I am willing to review nearly any genre, except poetry, romance, elementary-school children's books and (really bloody) horror.

I have another 800 reviews at my archive blog: http://www.deadtreesreviewarchive.blogspot.com (please visit).

I post my reviews to:

booklore.co.uk
midwestbookreview.com
Amazon and B&N (of course)
Librarything.com
Goodreads.com
Books-a-million.com
Reviewcentre.com
Pinterest.com
and on Twitter

I am always looking for more places to post my reviews.

Simple Diabetic Cookbook for Beginners

Simple Diabetic Cookbook for Beginners, Daniel Derr, 2025

You, or a loved one, have just been diagnosed with diabetes. Now what do you do?

Avoid carbohydrates as much as possible, because they will raise your blood sugar level too quickly. Fats and proteins will do it much more gradually. Look for whole, unprocessed foods that release energy steadily throughout the day.

The recipes in this book cater to all sorts of tastes. Whether you are looking for a hearty dinner, a snack or a quick, weekday meal, this book has a recipe that is diabetes-friendly. Other important aspects of diabetes management are portion control and mindful eating. Listen to your body when it says "I'm full!"

It's a very good idea to incorporate some physical activity into your healthier diet. So is eating with other people; the social aspect of eating is very important.

The recipes in this book are easy to follow. Even if you are not diabetic, and just want to eat healthier, here is a very good place to start.
