Welcome!

Welcome!! My name is Paul Lappen. I am in my early 60s, single, and live in Connecticut USA. This blog will consist of book reviews, written by me, on a wide variety of subjects. I specialize, as much as possible, in small press and self-published books, to give them whatever tiny bit of publicity help that I can. Other than that, I am willing to review nearly any genre, except poetry, romance, elementary-school children's books and (really bloody) horror.

I have another 800 reviews at my archive blog: http://www.deadtreesreviewarchive.blogspot.com (please visit).

I post my reviews to:

booklore.co.uk
midwestbookreview.com
Amazon and B&N (of course)
Librarything.com
Goodreads.com
Books-a-million.com
Reviewcentre.com
Pinterest.com
and on Twitter

I am always looking for more places to post my reviews.

Super Easy Good Energy Cookbook for Beginners

Super Easy Good Energy Cookbook for Beginners, Astrid Rasmussen, 2024

You want to start eating healthy, and maybe lose a few pounds, but you are intimidated by the seemingly infinite number of Diets that are out there. This book may be able to help.

This book does not advocate counting carbs or calories (or counting anything). It does advocate eating fresh fruits and vegetables. They contain the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to be at its best. If you can, buy organic (they have the least amount of processing and pesticides). Drinking lots of water is always a good idea; so is getting some exercise.

On the other hand, stay away from refined sugar and processed food (the typical America diet). Any nutrition the food may have had has been replaced by fat, carbs and calories. It may be momentarily satisfying, but your body will not like it. Caffeine, in soda and coffee, should also be reduced. There are many recipes in this book to help you on your way.

If the information in this book can be reduced to a couple of sentences, they might be: "Greatly increase your consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables (organic if possible). Drink lots of water, and get some exercise. Greatly decrease (or eliminate) your consumption of sugar, caffeine and processed food." Everyone wants better health, and a few less pounds to carry around. This book is an excellent place to start that journey.
